The stellar 8th gr. Advanced Art Class from my first year of teaching! Master artists individually in their own right, their art stands the test of time.
While attending the Teacher Licensure Program and studying Printmaking with my mentor professor, James Dormer, at Colorado State University, he commented once that every now and then he would have a semester where a group of students just “gelled”—they created a symbiotic relationship in which the individuals worked better and stronger as a group, and their artwork flourished as a result.
For me, this class from my first year of teaching, was one of those classes; this special group of students were hard-working, focused, inventive, and willing to experiment; as a result, they  energetically “fed” off of each other (whether they knew it or not) and their idea generation and artwork were more inventive, in depth, and of higher-quality because of it. 
What a gift for my first year of teaching! The inaugural year of Oasis Charter Middle School, Principal, Chris Terrel, created a unique learning environment with expressive opportunities for both students and teachers! Grateful! 🙏😃
