I started this page in 2019 and before SoR started to become a literacy buzz word. I chose it because I use Take Flight and thought it was a cute play on words for a business name. Posting this so people know - this started as a business page. I am a CALT and work as a dyslexia therapist but I’m no Louisa Moats or any other huge name in literacy.

You can’t drill comprehension. It is a skill that comes from having a solid foundation in fluency, vocabulary, PA, and phonics. Reading in depth about a variety of topics helps comprehension. Audio books, life experiences, exposure to grade level vocabulary and material are great ideas.

Our programs develop the National Reading Panel ‘s five (5) components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
