The Colorado Department of Education on Wednesday released student growth results and achievement data from the spring Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), PSAT and SAT assessments.

The CMAS tests are based on the Colorado Academic Standards and measure how well students have mastered their grade-level expectations in math and English language arts (ELA) in grades 3-8 and science in grades five, eight and 11. 🔗 Read more: https://buff.ly/Ts2leGj

Meet Matt Heinz! ⚡

We’re excited to have Matt as part of our DCC Middle School team! Here’s a little more about him:

7th Grade Individuals and Societies Teacher

This will be my 16th year teaching.

I have a beautiful wife named Nicole, and we have two lovely children. Hannah, who is 4, and Cameron, who is 7 months old.

My hobbies revolve around sports. Watching, coaching, and playing them.

A fun fact about me is that I have coached three athletes who have made it to the NFL, and I have taught 1 student-athlete who is currently in the NBA.

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Park to DCC Middle School! Here’s a little more about her:

Hi! I'm Dr. Vickie Park, and I'm excited to be joining Discovery Canyon Campus Middle School as the new Essentials Teacher. This is my 26th year in education, and I've had the privilege of working with high school students, elementary students, fellow educators, and now middle schoolers!

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, sharing a yummy meal with great friends, reading, traveling, and playing American mahjong—my latest obsession! I'm looking forward to an amazing year getting to know our students and being part of the DCC community.

I hold a dual Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and Psychology and a Master's in Counseling and Human Services, all from UCCS!

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time in the garage working on my cars and getting a round of golf in.

We’re excited to welcome Sarah to DCC Middle School! Here’s a little more about her:

I will be teaching 6th-Grade Math and Science. This is my 6th year in education and my 1st year at DCC. I am from Florida. My undergrad degree is from the University of Florida, and I completed my Masters degree at Colorado State University Pueblo. I love to ski, rock climb, read in my hammock, and spend time with friends.
