We had a special visitor today! The Virginia Secretary of Education, Dr. Smith, came to WD!!! He was greeted by students who shared a little about our school, and chose an egg to reveal which house he belongs in (he’s an otter!!). Dr. Smith visited a 3rd class to play a math game, took a tour of the renovated areas and participated in a round table with students. We gave him some student made books to remember us by.

Tomorrow is our first House Colors Wednesday of the year!!!
Bust out your house shirt from last year or just wear your teams colors!! (We are planning to provide students with a new house shirt soon! Parents can also purchase house gear from the PTO's fundraiser!)

We love our yearly house competitions and have a lot of fun things planned this year!!!
Our "Four Houses, One Family" program helps us do several things:
1. It promotes teamwork and collaboration
2. It encourages kind and respectful actions in a positive way
3. It allows our students to meet and interact with others across grade levels
4. Its just fun!
