Edmund L Houston Foundation The Edmund L Houston Foundation was established in 1973 by Black students at Rutgers Graduate School of Business Administration.

The goal is to provide social networking opportunities for Edmund L Houston Foundation scholarship recipients, Black and Underserved Alumni and Friends of Rutgers Business School, MBA program. The ELH Foundation posthumously honors Edmund L Houston* for his success as a black entrepreneur, his exemplary courage and spirit in the business community. Over the past 35 years, the ELH Foundation has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in the form of fellowships and scholarships to minority students enrolled in the Rutgers MBA program. We continue in these efforts today. We are now awarding $3,000 per term for the Houston Fellowship for one student, a book grant for $1,000 and $500 to the graduating minority student with highest GPA as part of the Alfreda P Robinson Award.

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Al.

Al had bravely lived with atrial fibrillation for many years. Recently, his condition worsened with congestive heart failure and heart valve and kidney complications. Despite the tireless efforts of his doctors and caregivers, his heart could no longer keep fighting.

Al brought so much love, laughter, and joy into my life. I will miss him more than words can express, but I am deeply grateful for the beautiful life and memories we shared together.

On his final day, he told me something that brought both peace and comfort: “I am ready to go to heaven now.”
Service arrangements have not yet been determined. I will share details once they are available.

Thank you for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

In Lieu of flowers please donate to the Edmund L Houston Foundation grant fund. He was Co-President until the end. www.edmundlhoustonfoundation.org

Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

This time of year is filled with love and reflection.
Some of you are celebrating the incredible moms in your lives.
Some, like me, are holding close the memory of mothers who watch over us from above.
Many of you are amazing moms and bonus moms yourselves — and some of you nurture others with the heart of a mother in every way.

However you’re spending this weekend, I hope it’s filled with joy, love, and special moments. You deserve it.

Wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day! 💐

It's been a whirlwind few weeks. Thanks to the folks that stopped by the meet and greet at the Black Alumni Collective (BAC)/Rutgers African American Alumni Association (RAAA) conference. Met Dr Randall Pinkett and Dr. Jeff Robinson at their book signing. Dr Holloway, President of Rutgers Universay gave a rousing talk at a fireside chat. Talked in depth with ALFRED A. EDMOND
SVP/Executive Editor-at-Large at Black Enterprise. The next conference will be in 2026 at the Universary of Pittsburgh. Hope to see you there.

In a devastating ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit has temporarily halted the Fearless Fund, a Black-owned venture capitalist firm, from awarding grants exclusively to Black women entrepreneurs. This decision arises from a lawsuit challenging the legality of the fund's racial cr...
