Elevate Sports Medicine & Performance

Elevate Sports Medicine & Performance We’re officially Elevate Sports Medicine & Performance! Hi friend. I’m Cassandra.

Formerly Positively Balanced Athletic Therapy, we’ve elevated our approach with integrated athletic therapy, performance training, and recovery services — all under one roof. I’m an athletic trainer who is trained in soft tissue techniques for injury and prevention and treatment based in Tulsa and Skiatook, Oklahoma. I hold a Bachelors degree in Health Education and Exercise Science and a Masters

degree in Athletic Training. I help people overcome injury and pain, so they can continue the workouts and fitness classes they enjoy. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, you are not your diagnosis, pain, or injury and there is always a way to get back to what you love. Some of the things that I can help you with include

Safely pursuing fitness classes while addressing post-pregnancy related issues diastasis, prolapse, or incontinence. Creating personalized post-rehab or injury prevention programs, so you can troubleshoot hip, knee, low back, or shoulder pain while continuing the activities that you enjoy. Reducing joint pain and discomfort through specialized manual therapy techniques, including cupping, rock tape, and instrument assisted massage. Assessing your form and offering feedback, so you can squat, lunge, and deadlift without pain. When I’m not working with clients, I can be found playing with my son and husband outside, gardening, cooking, and teaching movement classes.

The season is officially underway. 🏈🏐🥎🏃‍♀️

Football is a couple weeks in. Volleyball, softball and cross country athletes have already been putting in WORK.

And this is usually the point where we start seeing the little things pop up.

"My knee has been bothering me."

"My shoulder feels tight."

"My hamstrings are always sore."

"I'm just tired."

This is where recovery AND targeted strength training become really important.

Once the season starts, we don't stop strength training—we adjust it.

Your athlete probably doesn't need to be crushing heavy workouts on top of practices and games. But maintaining strength in the areas their sport demands can help their body continue to tolerate those demands as the season progresses.

🏈 Football athletes may need continued hip, hamstring, trunk, neck and shoulder strength.

🏐 Volleyball athletes need strong hips, knees, ankles and shoulders to tolerate hundreds of jumps and swings.

🥎 Softball athletes need rotational strength, shoulder stability, strong hips and the ability to repeatedly throw, sprint and change direction.

🏃 Cross country athletes need strength too! Strong calves, feet, hips and posterior chains help their bodies tolerate mile after mile.

Then we have to balance that work with RECOVERY.

Sleep.
Nutrition.
Hydration.
Mobility.
Appropriate rest.
Managing soreness.
Adjusting training when needed.

The goal isn't to completely avoid stress on the body. Athletes NEED stress to get stronger and improve.

The goal is making sure their body has enough capacity to handle the stress we're asking it to handle.

Practice + games + strength + recovery all have to work TOGETHER.

And that balance may look completely different in Week 2 than it does in Week 8.

That's one of the things we help athletes with at Elevate Sports Medicine & Performance.

We look at the athlete, their sport, their schedule, their strengths, their weak points and how their body is responding—and adjust the game plan throughout the season.

Because the goal isn't just to START the season healthy.

We want you finishing it healthy, strong and still performing. 💪

Have you ever started out your workout with breathing drills? If not, here are a 2 of the things you are missing out on:

1) Nervous system reset. What you have been doing, will do and need to do today gets a nice pause button. This helps your brain, and your body, get prepped and focused on the workout ahead.

2)Pressure cooker. When you do breathing drills prior to a workout, it helps you dial in your pressure management system. Your diaphragm, your abs, your hips, your back, your pelvic floor. They get a pre pump tune up and tune in before the work begins.

These are just 2 of the many things a few minutes of breathing prep can do to enhance your workout and your health!

If you want suggestions on what breathing drills to use in your next workout, feel free to shoot me a message and I'd love to chat!
