Since it’s the beginning of a new school year and there are lots of new faces, I thought it would be the perfect time to reintroduce myself, Kate McAllister, and my studio, River City Art.
I am an artist. A creative for as long as I can remember. I have an extensive portfolio of paintings in acrylics, oils and watercolors, pen drawings, wood carving and more. Realism that fills a wall to abstract the size of a stamp. I create through curiosity, will it work? There is always a problem to solve.
There are collectors, a commercial client list, a Silver Award and an Excellence Award from the Ct Art Directors Club, I produce the street fair for and with a Collinsville Community that I appreciate and adore, and there’s been a bunch of kids that I have had the honor to teach since 2008.
What I don’t have is a desire to film it, I don’t have time for that. I grew up in the 80’s there’s no evidence. I’m not interested in making a video, that would honestly bore you.
I am here for the art. The process, trials, problems and solutions. I “influence” by teaching, not making ridiculous content. I have taught 100’s of kids over the past 16+ years to be their best artistic selves. Exploring their imaginations, learning the mindful process of creativity while finding an outlet or a little zen time.
River City Art is a fine art studio that encourages you to play. Learn your mediums and how they work, don’t work, work with others and so on. Encouraged to find your very own imagination and style by exploring how others worked, what you like and what you might accidentally discover! Kids as young as 5 to adults as old as they’ll admit to have all got a stool at the table.
For the month of September my work will be up at the Canton Library. A collection of realism and abstract, watercolors and acrylics, featuring a new collection of pallet knife paintings I’ve been working on this summer.

I am putting together a Calm before the Chaos! End of Summer Mindful Art Workshop for you to give yourself a moment of You Time. 3-4 hours of a creative outlet. I am putting together a list of projects to chose from that will be easy enough to duplicate at home! Or come back to any of the Saturday Workshops that will start up again in September🌻
