ICASSI 2025 - Collinsville, Illinois
Scrolling through my album and going through ICASSI withdrawal. What an incredible privilege it was to teach my first ICASSI course, “Creative Interventions in Independent Psychology” this summer in Illinois. We learned about Adler & Dreikurs & Sadie & Moreno and played with art, markers, paper, sand, toys, our bodies in space, and words. We laughed, gained insight, and were touched in so many ways. It’s so amazing to have a community of colleagues and like-hearted individuals to go home to every summer. As always, I learned a lot, reflected, grew, connected and met so many amazing individuals whom I am grateful to call my friends. We also got to enjoy small town USA - home to the biggest “Catsup” (ketchup) bottle in the world. Now time to digest and dream and live and create beautiful memories & collect more life stories to share in 2026. ✈️🧳🥰

Grad school is no easy journey. Late nights studying, early lectures, practicum hours, internships, residency—it all takes a toll on your mind, body, and spirit. That’s why friendship and support mean everything in getting through it all. I’m so grateful we embarked on this journey together and so proud that we made it to the other side. Congratulations on your graduation—here’s to many more years of friendship and success!

Today I had the pleasure of presenting a paper that I’m working on (alongside brilliant coauthors) about the development of a new supervision model for counsellors, trainees, and training sites at a research conference at SFU. Had an amazing time teaching an Adlerian Intensive bootcamp for my Art Therapy students 🩷 We learned all about Dreikurs and Adler’s philosophy of child & adolescent development, Crucial Cs, goals of misbehaviour, Positive & Democratic parenting, and Adlerian Family Therapy. My students blew me away with the development of their own Adlerian focused family therapy groups, including: adventure based nature therapy group for bereavement; play therapy for kids and caregivers; and art therapy group for kids in foster care. This was the last “class” for this cohort and I’m wishing them luck on their Masters Qualifying Exam & on finishing up their practicums! Can’t wait to see where their professional careers take them and I know that they will do good in their communities as Art Therapists 🖼️ 🧠 💕
