Western Reserve Local Schools is a district serving the township communities surrounding Collins, Ohio. We may be a small district, but our hearts are big and our school pride runs deep. Our size plays to our advantage, because we’re able to get to know our students on an individual basis—a luxury that larger districts often forego. We offer a stellar academic curriculum and a host of extracurricular options, and in every arena our students receive the strong support of parents, teachers, and community members.

3rd graders have been learning about minerals, rocks, and soil in science class. Recently, FFA members came over to teach about soil and students observed in sample holes. We ended the day with a fossil dig. Thank you to Addie French, Corynne Kinney, and Ethan Linder for teaching about soil. Also, thank you to Heidelberg Materials for the donation of fossil material.

Dolly Parton Day! Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel signed an official Governor's Proclamation declaring September 25, 2026 as Dolly Parton Day in Ohio. This special day at WRE celebrated Dolly's life, legacy, and generosity, specifically honoring her dedication to childhood literacy.
We started our day off with Mrs. Harvey reading Coat of Many Colors to the elementary followed by trivia questions for us to ponder throughout the day. At 9:25am, we enjoyed a whole school dance party, students and staff were cutting a rug to 9 to 5! There were Dolly coloring pages and special hats constructed to honor a woman who contributed so much to promoting literacy throughout our world.

Hovercraft post 2 of 2-
On Tuesday, our 5th graders participated in The Hovercraft Project. Students built, tested, and rode hovercrafts. While doing so, they also learned that they are valuable. Everyone plays an important role in our community.
This project was made possible by the WR Endowment and our community through fundraisers.
