Going gold on September 18th💛 Mark your calendars!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. On September 18, Caldwell County Schools will go gold district-wide to stand with students fighting childhood cancer. It's a small gesture. But gold on that day says something big: every student, in every battle, has this whole district behind them. 🎗️

Join us in celebrating Dolly Parton Day on September 25th❤️🖤🩷

September 25 will be Dolly Parton Day in Caldwell County Schools — a day to honor a woman whose impact on children and education runs far deeper than her music.

In 1995, Dolly launched the Imagination Library, mailing a free book every month to children from birth to age five. The program has gifted over 300 million books to kids around the world. Research shows the Imagination Library works: children in the program are far more likely to engage with books and develop the early literacy skills that lay the foundation for lifelong learning.

Dolly's commitment to kids didn't stop at books. She has championed innovations that drastically lowered dropout rates, backed arts education opportunities, funded scholarships, and stepped up for families in crisis.

💛 September is Su***de Prevention Month 💛

This month, we’re reminding our students, families, and staff that they are never alone and their feelings matter.

Sometimes, a simple “How are you doing?” can open the door to a conversation that makes a difference. We encourage our school community to:

🌟 Notice when someone may be struggling
💬 Ask how they’re doing and truly listen
🤝 Connect them with a trusted adult or support person
💛 Remind them that asking for help is a sign of strength

At Collettsville School, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, valued, and supported. Our school counselor, social worker, teachers, and staff are here to help students navigate difficult moments and connect them with the support they need.

📚 Throughout the month of September, we will be sharing resources, information, and helpful reminders about su***de prevention, mental health, and how we can support ourselves and those around us. We encourage our families and community members to follow along and take a moment to read and share these resources.

You never know how much a kind word, a listening ear, or simply being there can mean.

Let’s make our school community a place where it’s okay to ask for help and where no one has to face a difficult moment alone. 💛
