Located in the cleverly named town of Collegeville--which is just as quaint as it sounds--our corner of the world is known for friendliness, safety and the beauty you would expect in a quintessential college town. Our 170 gorgeous acres are designed like an academic village, with three interdisciplinary neighborhoods, an Innovation and Discovery Center for research, plus premier arts and athletics facilities. We're also one of the nation's "Top Green" colleges, with an organic farm and wooded trail system. But mostly, we are a community and a home.

Join us for an artist talk with award-winning photographer and author Ron Tarver, MFA, on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. in the Olin Hall auditorium. Tarver will discuss his acclaimed project and 2024 book, "The Long Ride Home: Black Cowboys in America," a collection of portraits that captures rodeo culture and restores an overlooked chapter of American history.

Tarver spent more than 30 years as a staff photojournalist for The Philadelphia Inquirer and is currently an associate professor of art at Swarthmore College. The event is free and open to the Ursinus community and the public, and advance registration is not required.

Tarver's talk will explore his acclaimed project and 2024 book, The Long Ride Home: Black Cowboys in America.

Congratulations to William M. Mongan, Ph.D., associate professor of computer science, who has been named the inaugural holder of the Williams Professorship!

Established through a $2.5 million commitment from Ursinus College Board of Trustees Vice Chair Margaret A. “Peg” Williams, Ph.D., ’80, the endowed professorship supports innovative teaching in areas such as artificial intelligence, data literacy, and computational thinking.

Ursinus College has appointed Ryan Burton-Romero, M.Ed., as vice president of enrollment management following a national search. In this role, he will provide leadership and strategic direction for admission, financial aid, enrollment operations, and student accounts, and will serve on the president's council.

Burton-Romero brings more than 20 years of higher education and enrollment experience. Most recently, he served as vice president of enrollment management and strategic marketing and communications at Chestnut Hill College, where he led efforts that resulted in 30% growth in undergraduate enrollment. His background also includes leadership roles at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and more than a decade at the University of Arizona.

Burton-Romero will provide leadership and strategic direction for admission, financial aid, enrollment operations, and student accounts at Ursinus.

Ursinus College is expanding its Montgomery County Tuition Promise to cover the full cost of tuition for eligible students.

The program is open to high school seniors who live in Montgomery County, Pa., and enter Ursinus in fall 2027. Eligible students must file the FAFSA, have a federally reported family adjusted gross income of $65,000 or less, and live on campus all four years.

Applications are open now!

The program deepens the college's commitment to local students, making an Ursinus education more accessible to families in its home county.
