Meet Marie Gazzillo ’23:

“My name is Marie Gazzillo I am a senior, majoring in environmental science with minors in sociology and marine biology. For my internship I am working with Darby Creek Valley Association as a watershed ambassador. DCVA is working with Pennsylvania Environmental groups to plant rain gardens and provide better access to clean and safe outdoor experiences along the Darby Creek.”

Meet Victoria Flint ’24:

“Hi!! My name is Victoria Flint and I am a rising Junior at Ursinus. I am a HEP major on the Pre PA track and I chose to do my internship this summer at Ophthalmology Physicians & Surgeons, PC. I float between offices in Hatboro, Blue Bell, and North Wales. Working here has been such as amazing opportunity, where I have been able to gain hours in direct patient care. I'm learning how to deal with different types of patients with different needs, which is something I am grateful to be exposed to in undergrad. I have seen a great amount of growth in myself when it comes to being with patients and being able to instruct them on what tests I will be conducting on them. A daily workday for me is working patients up to then be seen by the doctor. I will conduct Visual Acuity tests, check pupils, eye mobility, eye pressure, and dilate patients' eyes. Some days I will take Fundus photos, which are photos of the back of a patients' eyes and use the OCT machine. Other days, I am giving patients visual field tests (HVF) which tests the patients' peripheral vision. This can help the doctors decide if the patient has glaucoma or other infectious eye diseases that affect vision. The overall connections I have made at the different offices is something I am also excited to have made, with everyone being super supportive and friendly.”

Kicking off our week with an internship spotlight — meet Alexis Miller ‘23!
 
“I am working as a Marketing Intern at Macy’s Herald Square office in NYC! Interns are placed in teams where we create a marketing campaign to present to executives at the end of the 8-week program. When I am not working on my group project, I work with the Loyalty marketing team which works closely with Macy’s loyalty programs. I am currently a rising senior with a  self-initiated marketing major with an economics and management minor.”

Jonathan Gherman ’23 is interning at Breakthrough Atlanta this summer.

Our bears are busy with their internships this summer. Meet Alexa Alessandrini ’24!

“I’m a Biology major and a part of the class of 2024! I’m a Marketing & Communications intern at Bonaventure Realty, which is right next to Marzella’s in Collegeville. At Bonaventure, I create engaging graphics, weekly newsletters, various marketing documents/pamphlets, put together helpful materials for the agents, and run the company’s social media accounts. Although I’m a Biology major, marketing and creating graphics is another one of my interests. I’m currently the Director of Communications for STAT and am a Communications Peer Associate for the CPD. With my internship I am able gain marketing ideas and design techniques that I’ll be able to bring into STAT and the CPD, explore my interest in marketing, and experience an office setting.”

Jake Kohler, Ursinus alumnus and director of The Wharton School’s deferred MBA admission program, wants to share advice and empower Ursinus students about the steps they can take now and in the years to come to take advantage of business school programs in the future.
