Masters program: The Master of Engineering in Subsea Engineering is an engineering degree with a focus on engineering of subsea systems and is uniquely designed to provide scientific and technical skills necessary for designing, building, installing, testing and operating subsea equipment for the Oil & Gas Industry. The TAMU subsea program stresses core subjects while giving exposure to the fundamentals of all critical areas of subsea engineering. Students will also learn project management and project ex*****on, including experience-based lessons.

General

Philosophy: provide practical instruction for skill sets widely used in the Oil & Gas industry for performance of the engineering in subsea systems.

Taught by Professors of Practice: non-tenured professors who base their knowledge on years of professional experience gained from industry careers.

Why get a master’s degree in Subsea Engineering?

It is extremely challenging work. In many ways it is as challenging as the space program.
i. Remote operations for equipment located hundreds of kilometers from the operator in thousands of meters ocean water depth
ii. External pressures exceeding 5,000 psi
iii. Internal pressures exceeding 15,000 psi
iv. Internal temperatures with tremendous variations between very low and very high
v. External environment (sea water) is corrosive
vi. Internal environment (hydrocarbon fluids) can be extremely corrosive
vii. Ocean environment can be extremely challenging: low temperatures, high currents, huge waves.

There are many technological challenges facing the Industry that need new ideas from young minds.
