"6′-SL supplementation did not promote greater gains dynamic strength, fat free mass or changes in body composition. However, while there was some evidence that 6′-SL supplementation influenced training-induced changes in aerobic capacity during the first six weeks, fewer effects were observed after 12 weeks."

We still recommend loading (4 x 5 g/d or 0.3 g/kg/d for 5 -7 days) as the quickest way to increase muscle creatine content for performance and then maintain with 0.1 g/kg/d thereafter (e.g., 5 - 10 g/d for 50 - 100 kg individuals). However, our initial studies (which found the best gains in muscle mass and performance in resistance-trained athletes) evaluated 16- 25 g/d (with CHO and/or CHO and PRO) for 4 - 12 weeks. Our current studies evaluating the effects of creatine monohydrate on cognitive function-related studies in older adults is evaluating 2 x 5 g/d of creatine monohydrate (with and without training).

Latest evidence that creatine supplementation, particularly ≥ 5 g·day⁻¹ with RT, in postmenopausal women yields small but meaningful gains in lean mass and strength without evidence of harm. Effects on bone density remain unclear.
