If you're pursuing teacher certification in a Texas-designated shortage area, you may qualify for Texas Education Agency (TEA) assistance with eligible testing and certificate fees through available fee waiver or funding programs.

After becoming a certified teacher, you may also be eligible for federal student loan forgiveness by teaching in a qualifying high-need field.

Current Texas shortage areas include:
• Bilingual/English as a Second Language
• Career and Technical Education (Secondary Only)
• Computer Science/Technology Applications
