Meet Dr. Lisa Colvin, a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management at Texas A&M University!

This summer, YAP Campers have had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Colvin, whose expertise spans exercise physiology, cardiovascular health, adapted physical activity, and high-performance sport. Through hands-on learning and real-world experiences, she introduced students to the science of human performance while showing how movement can improve health, enhance athletic performance, and create opportunities for people of all abilities.

Beyond the classroom, Dr. Colvin serves as the Director of the Aggie ParaSport Innovation Collaborative (APIC), an initiative that is helping position Texas A&M as a national leader in para-sport research, education, and athlete performance. APIC brings together researchers, students, coaches, and athletes to advance innovation while supporting para-athletes and military veterans.

💡 Fun fact: In 2024, Dr. Colvin helped bring a U.S. Paralympic cycling competition to Aggieland, expanding opportunities for para-athletes and promoting inclusive sport. She is also a World Para Athletics National Technical Official (NTO) and Master Official for U.S.A Track and Field.

At YAP, students don't just learn about careers—they learn directly from Texas A&M faculty who are making a difference in their fields every day.

This week, we were proud to host campers from the Kinesiology & Sports Science course as part of the Texas A&M Youth Adventure Program (YAP). Youth Adventure Program

Led by faculty and staff from the Department of YAP introduces high school students to the exciting world of kinesiology, sports medicine, and human performance through hands-on learning.

As part of their experience, campers got moving in our state-of-the-art facilities with sessions in judo, archery, gymnastics, dance and boot camp, led by our amazing PEAP faculty. It was a fun introduction to the kinds of activities that promote confidence, teamwork, and lifelong wellness here at PEAP.

We loved sharing the PEAP experience and hope to see them back on campus discovering new ways to move through PEAP classes like KINE 199, KINE 120, and KINE 223!

Sam and Noah from our KINE 199 Racquetball class were all smiles at last week’s Shamrock Fun Event 🍀 and fittingly, they were both born on St. Patrick’s Day!

While they’re building their skills week by week in KINE 199, the TAMU Racquetball team is heading off to Collegiate Nationals today 🏆 Wishing the team the best of luck as they compete on the national stage!

Looking to try something new or improve your game? KINE 199 offers a wide range of activity classes designed to help you stay active, build skills, and find what you enjoy.

Would you like a 2-week summer job?
Do you need class credit, internship, or volunteer hours? Either or both are possible as a Counselor with Camp Adventure. Counselors not only mentor and supervise 8-12 year olds but they also mentor Counselors in Training (CITs).

Camp Adventure is a two-week day camp at Texas A&M University sponsored by the Department of Health and Kinesiology. Camp Adventure is for boys and girls ages 8-12. Campers are divided into teams by age. We have planned an exciting and fun program for which includes outdoor adventure experiences and a few sports skills.
