The Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program is designed to help youth realize their potential and the impact they can have as leaders and advocates. Not only do students learn civic, social, and leadership skills, but they are also immersed in a multi-faceted hands-on educational experience that showcases the role that food and fiber play in communities across the state. Thanks to partnerships with program sponsors, students are not responsible for any cost to participate in this life-shaping educational experience. Students who participate in the Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program have the unique opportunity to collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds in order to enhance their perception of agriculture, advocacy and leadership.

As part of this award-winning program, students will be immersed in hands-on learning experiences designed to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities and illustrate the critical role of food and fiber.

This summer, 35 selected Ambassadors had the opportunity to travel the Pacific coast as part of the 2026 TYLA Pacific Agricultural Experience. For 11 days, these Ambassadors were immersed in different sectors of the agricultural industry across California, Washington, Idaho, and Alaska.
