Development of a Colorimetric Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay for the Detection of Trypanosoma cruzi in Low-Resource Settings 07/10/2024

A publication with Dr. Robert Meagher's group at the Sandia Nation Laboratories. We thank Dr. Taylor Moehling for developing a sensitive colorimetric Chagas disease detection assay with us.

Development of a Colorimetric Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay for the Detection of Trypanosoma cruzi in Low-Resource Settings Chagas disease is an inflammatory parasitic infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi (T. cruzi). Early diagnosis is crucial in guiding treatment and slowing disease progression; however, current diagnostic methods have insufficient detection limits and often require skilled technicians. Molecular tests...

Evaluation and validation of a PrintrLab-based LAMP assay to identify Trypanosoma cruzi in newborns in Bolivia: a proof-of-concept study 07/10/2024

Our company developed the PrintrLab for nucleic acid extraction with added capabilities to perform isothermal amplification reactions such as LAMP and RPA.

Evaluation and validation of a PrintrLab-based LAMP assay to identify Trypanosoma cruzi in newborns in Bolivia: a proof-of-concept study The PrintrLab-LAMP yielded a higher sensitivity than microscopy-based analysis. Considering the simpler use and expected lower cost of LAMP compared with PCR, our findings encourage its evaluation in a larger study over a wider geographical area.

A Rapid SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Assay for Low Resource Settings 09/25/2020

Our new paper with The Medical College of Wisconsin: A Rapid SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Assay for Low Resource Settings

A Rapid SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR Assay for Low Resource Settings Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay is the gold standard recommended to test for acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, it generally requires expensive equipment such as RNA isolation instruments and real-time PCR thermal cyclers. As a pandemic, COVID-19 has sp...

Validating an Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction Device for Omics in Space Using Whole Cell Microbial Reference Standards 08/24/2020

Our new paper. A great team effort with folks at NASA-JPL, NASA-Ames, University of Vermont, Montana State University, and IRPI.

Validating an Automated Nucleic Acid Extraction Device for Omics in Space Using Whole Cell Microbial Reference Standards NASA has made great strides in the past five years to develop a suite of instruments for the International Space Station in order to perform molecular biology in space. However, a key piece of equipment that has been lacking is an instrument that can extract nucleic acids from an array of complex hu...

A Rapid COVID-19 RT-PCR Detection Assay for Low Resource Settings 05/07/2020

A Rapid COVID-19 RT-PCR Detection Assay for Low Resource Settings Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay is the gold standard recommended to test for acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. It has been used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and several other companies in their Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) assays...

Photos from AI Biosciences, Inc.'s post 11/04/2019

We had an exhibit at the inaugural 2019 Space Health Innovation Conference in San Francisco, co-Hosted by UCSF and TRISH (11/02/2019). We thank the organizer for providing us a prime location for our table/display.
