Meet Marty and Susie Garza!
Marty earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology from Texas A&M University as part of the Class of 1982. Susie graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1988 and later obtained a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University in 2010.
Marty joined the Chancellor’s Century Council after his company was awarded the CIR project in 2016, marking the first new building on the RELLIS campus. During that time, he worked closely with Chancellor John Sharp, whose leadership left a strong impression. Inspired by the Chancellor’s vision, Marty chose to support both him and the Council’s efforts to advance its programs.
Professionally, Marty has built a long career in the commercial construction industry. He currently serves as VP of Higher Education for Joeris General Contractors. His experience includes more than 20 major projects within The Texas A&M University System. Susie dedicated 20 years to elementary education, teaching in Laredo, Austin, and San Antonio. After retiring, she has focused on spending time with family and volunteering with her parish community at St. Jose Sanchez del Rio Catholic Church.
Marty especially values the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Texas A&M campuses across the state, taking pride in supporting the A&M System's expansion. Susie found fulfillment in creating meaningful learning experiences for her students and witnessing their excitement and development throughout the educational process.
Together, Marty and Susie share a love of travel, often spending time exploring destinations throughout Texas as well as relaxing in Arizona and Florida. Among their proudest accomplishments, Marty highlights his role as Senior Construction Project Manager for the North End Zone expansion project at Kyle Field, while Susie treasures watching their children and grandchildren grow into remarkable individuals. Their oldest son was born on their first wedding anniversary, and over the course of 38 years of marriage, they have moved 13 times—despite not being a military family.

I am proud of the work the Chancellor's Century Council - The Texas A&M University System continues to do, investing in the students across the A&M System.
This quarter, members' generosity helped students travel to national conferences, compete for championships, earn advanced degrees, and stay enrolled when unexpected hardship could have ended their journey. Some impact is measured in numbers. Some impact is measured in moments that matter – and these are moments that matter.
