Texas A&M Ranger Challenge

Texas A&M Ranger Challenge Ranger Challenge is an organization that takes part in a national competition designed to test military field skills.

Ranger Challenge is often considered the "varsity sport" of the Army ROTC Program. Texas A&M Army ROTC travels to Fort Knox, KY each October to compete in the Bold Leader Challenge competition against the other SMCs (Senior Military Colleges). Events include but are not limited to: Marksmanship, Land Navigation, Patrolling, Obstacle Course, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, CBRN Scenario, and One-rope Bridge. In 2012, '13,'15 Texas A&M won Bold Leader Challenge, qualifying themselves to compete in the internationally known Sandhurst Competition at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.

Taken 73 years ago on this day, this colorized photo of a Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel (LCVP) as it approaches Omaha Beach, Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. To the right, another LCVP is visible. The soldiers protected their weapons with Pliofilm covers against the water crashing over the sides of the landing craft during the ride towards the beaches. These men were amongst the first to land on what would become known as “bloody Omaha” and attack Hitler’s infamous Atlantic Wall.

Ranger Challenge Cadets in D-1 went to the REC Center to practice capsize drills and movement techniques in Zodiac boats.
