Each year, the laboratory generates new sample submittal forms in December for the following calendar year. Most years have minor changes, last year it was our new telephone number, however this year the soil submittal forms have change to reflect the insertion of Mehlich 3 boron as a component of our Routine Test. This change reflects our efforts to continually improve analyses and recommendations for clientele.

The laboratory was treated with a layer of ice over-night. Still closed, but some progress on analysis has been made over tge past few days.

The weather has turned cold and snowy at the laboratory this week. Driving conditions are poor and campus and the laboratory are closed thru Thursday.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Soil, Water and Forage Testing Laboratory remains open, although we have changed some business practices to allow for the maximum social distancing possible for our employees. This includes staggering work hours and closing our office to the public. Customers are welcome to dropoff samples in our unattended lobby.

We are observing some supply chain delivery issues which has slowed some types of analyses down and we have been attempting to resource these needed supplies.

The drought hitting many parts of Texas can impact more than just yield of pastures, hay fields, along with corn and sorghum fields. Some of the traditional forage crops, along with corn and sorghum crops harvested as a forage, may have elevated nitrates and/or prussic acid. Prior to simply baling or grazing these drought impacted fields, read over this publication.

Water testing takes on many forms for multiple end uses. Our laboratory specializes in inorganic, non-drinking water uses including irrigation, livestock, aquaculture, industrial and the domestic (often staining of fixtures, corrosion, odors and similar non-consumption issues). The laboratory website has a link to TCEQ accredited laboratories for your drinking water testing needs.
