ASCE Texas A&M Student Chapter

As the fall semester comes to a start, we’d like to congratulate some of our members who had the opportunity to apply what they learned here at Texas A&M to real world experience through summer internships. Many of our students found these opportunities through TAMU ASCE’s career fairs, general meetings, lunch & learns, and more. Thank you to every company that has been involved with us. We’re proud of each and every one of our members as they continue to work hard and expand their knowledge and experience. Here’s to a great fall semester ahead!!

Howdy y’all!! I have very exciting news! Thanks to everyone’s involvement this year, we have been awarded a Certificate of Commendation that only the top 5% of all student chapter receive! It’s a great honor to be one of the biggest and most active student chapters in the nation. Thank you to our faculty advisor, Bob Appleton, for your help and guidance, to all of our amazing officers for offering leadership, and of course to all of our members for your endless enthusiasm and participation that makes everything we do worth it! Our group of future engineers have very promising careers ahead of them. On behalf of the J.T.L. McNew Chapter at Texas A&M, thanks and gig ‘em!

Our meeting this week will be run by our amazing new execs and they will also be conducting the officer interviews next week. Be sure to come welcome them at the meeting! They’re excited to serve y’all!!

Welcome back from break! We’ll be having our last meeting of the semester this Wednesday with Menard. This meeting will be run by our new 2023 executive team (announcement soon) and we’ll have some barbecue from C&J’s for y’all to enjoy during the presentation by Menard! We’ll also be having our second Starbucks social of the semester the same day! Reminder that officer applications will also be due this Friday. Hope to see everyone at the meeting jacked up on the free coffee you get from Starbucks earlier in the day!

Big news!! ASCE officer applications are open! The google form is linked in our bio and you’ll find a description of each officer position there. Applications will be due December 2nd and interviews will be held December 5th and 6th. As an officer, you get access to more resources and networking opportunities and most importantly, we have fun! Please feel free to message any of the current officers with questions about positions or about being an officer in general. A list of the officers with their contact information can be found on our website at www.tamu asce.com. We’d love to see y’all getting more involved in this great org!

Howdy howdy!! We have a BIG meeting this week featuring Garza EMC! Not only will you get to see this company present, but you’ll also get to vote for your next executive officers!! It’s the second to last meeting of the semester, so make up to show up and show out! (And get free Fuego for dinner!) See y’all there!

Get excited!! ASCE Brazos Branch is sponsoring a joint social with us at Big Shots! The event will be 2 weeks from today on November 17th from 7pm to 9pm. Appetizers, fountain drinks, and golfing will be provided for our members! Come hang out with other members, meet some ASCE Brazos members, and bring your friends! Be on the lookout for more information coming out in the ASCE groupme. See y’all there!

Howdy ags! Happy November! Kicking off this month is a F.A.C.E. meeting for our freshmen taking place TOMORROW at 7pm. The civil ambassadors will be giving an ETAM overview and then they’ll take y’all on a lab tour! We’ll be providing pizza for our attendees. See y’all there!

Howdy y’all! We’ll be having our annual ASCE tailgate this Saturday for the Ole Miss game!! The tailgate will be starting at 3:30 in Lot 100 and will be sponsored by and ! Come hang out with fellow ASCE members and get to know these companies in a casual setting. Barbecue will be provided for our members but refreshments will not so bring your own. Can’t wait to see y’all there! BTHO Ole Miss!!

Howdy everyone! Our next general meeting is THIS Wednesday in HEB 110 at 7pm! Come learn about engineering consulting with WGA! Members, come early to grab some Chick-Fil-A nuggets before the presentation. Anyone is more than welcome to attend. Don’t miss the announcements about upcoming socials and events! Last Tuesday ASCE attended STEM night at Greens Prairie Elementary School! Our officers had lots of fun playing with the kids as they built structures with spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. We always love the opportunity to spread knowledge about civil engineering and cultivating children’s creativity. Kids are smart!!
