Students in Dr. Ashleigh Faris’ Applied Forensic Entomology recently visited the Texas A&M Ecology and Natural Resource Teaching Area a to sample insects from carrion.

During the class, students tested how applying an acidic solution such as white vinegar may alter insect succession and decomposition and how the natural environment can impact decomposition. Students gained a hands-on field-based experience and learned valuable real-world skills!

Former Forensic and Investigative Sciences Program at Texas A&M University student Andrew Chapman has taken his FIVS degree to the next level as he starts his journey through medical school at Texas A&M University College of Medicine via their military pipeline program.

Through this, Andrew is on his way to accomplishing his dream of becoming a physician in the U.S. Navy.
