Cushing Library would like to congratulate the winners of the 2025 Hugo, Astounding, and Lodestar Awards, awarded this last weekend at Seattle Worldcon 2025!
We're particularly proud of Darcie Little Badger '16, who won the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book for her fantasy 'Sheine Lende', drawn from the history of her family and her Lipan Apache culture. And we're also pleased as punch for Marie Brennan, recipient of the first Hugo Award for Best Poem for "A War of Words". (Cushing is honored to be the repository for Marie's archives.)
And TAMU's own Martha Wells '86 was one of the Guests of Honor at the Worldcon this year, and she was, unsurprisingly, a major sensation! Gig 'em, Martha!

I'm pleased to announce the receipt of a endowment for the SF&F Collection, through the generosity of Drs. Diane ’88 and John Hurtado ’91 ’95. We're very grateful for their confidence, support, and belief in the importance of the Collection's mission.
I would be remiss if I didn't note that we also have an gift, thanks to the generosity of Kim Kofmel, from the Friends of Fandom, providing support for purchases of material relating to Texas SF and/or the history of Texas fandom.
