Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection from Cushing Memorial Library & Archives at Texas A&M University

The “Outlander” universe, in which a time-traveling British nurse finds adventure and romance with an 18th-century Scottish warrior, is coming to Aggieland.

The best-selling book series author, Dr. Diana Gabaldon, has selected Texas A&M University’s Cushing Memorial Library & Archives as the permanent home for her literary papers, notes and memorabilia from the historical science fiction, adventure-romance series and its hit streaming adaptation.

We are very excited and proud to announce that Dr. Diana Gabaldon, the author of the immensely popular "Outlander" series, has agreed to donate her literary archives to the Science Fiction & Fantasy Research Collection at Cushing. Diana is an amazing storyteller, and her archives with be rich sources for researchers and fans alike!

Into the Woods … and onto the Bestseller List | Ithaca College 10/16/2025

Ithaca College News recently reported on on one of its alumni, fantasy writer Kristen Britain, whose literary archives are held here at Cushing and whose latest Green Rider novel, "Falling in A Sea Of Stars", was just released.

The article includes pictures from the exhibit devoted to Kristen and her work and its accompanying three-day celebration, that was held at Cushing in May 2025.

Hugo, Lodestar, and Astounding Awards Winners 08/18/2025

Cushing Library would like to congratulate the winners of the 2025 Hugo, Astounding, and Lodestar Awards, awarded this last weekend at Seattle Worldcon 2025!

We're particularly proud of Darcie Little Badger '16, who won the Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book for her fantasy 'Sheine Lende', drawn from the history of her family and her Lipan Apache culture. And we're also pleased as punch for Marie Brennan, recipient of the first Hugo Award for Best Poem for "A War of Words". (Cushing is honored to be the repository for Marie's archives.)

And TAMU's own Martha Wells '86 was one of the Guests of Honor at the Worldcon this year, and she was, unsurprisingly, a major sensation! Gig 'em, Martha!
