Hurricane season is officially here (June 1 - Nov. 30). The best time to prepare isn't when a storm is on the radar - it's right now (before all the shelves at H-E-B are empty ๐Ÿ˜‰). Take a few minutes this week to check your disaster kits and emergency supplies to ensure you have what you need should a hurricane hit. If you don't know where to get something or want to learn more about how to get prepared, visit noaa.gov/hurricane-prep or drop a question below ๐Ÿ‘‡!

Yesterday, we hosted two cadets from the Texas Emergency Management Academy-Fort Worth for a tour of our campus operations. We were lucky enough to meet them at a recent training in Fort Worth. Emergency management is all about building relationships, both on and off campus. You never want to be meeting someone for the first time in the middle of an emergency. We are thankful for the opportunity to keep expanding our network and working with professional colleagues to keep our communities safe!

Today, members of the Emergency Management team traveled to the Galveston campus to participate in their annual hurricane emergency table-top exercise. Table-top exercises allow us to test our emergency plans and help ensure everyone knows their roles and responsibilities in a disaster. For more information on table-tops and other emergency exercises, visit em.tamu.edu
