Two more names remembered. 💛
Our Brazos Valley Childhood & Young Adult Cancer Roll of Honor has grown by two more precious young people.
🌟Rachel Lynn Survant, age 17, Brazos County
Rachel passed away in 2001 after a long battle with cancer. More than 25 years later, a childhood friend who is herself a childhood cancer survivor reached out to make sure Rachel was not forgotten. She had even kept Rachel’s original newspaper obituary all these years and shared it with us when we were unable to find it online. There is something incredibly special about one childhood cancer warrior carrying the memory of another for all these years. ✨
🌟Thomas Russell Connolly, age 19, Texas A&M University
Thomas was diagnosed with cancer on his first day of classes as a Texas A&M freshman. He passed away in 2024 and was honored by his Aggie family through Silver Taps.
Two more names found. Two more lives remembered.

With your help we have proudly added several new names to our Roll of Honor and this is the newest list but we won’t stop until every name has been found.
We have attempted to reach out to every family represented to invite them to include their Loved Ones’ Photo on our Tribute Wall and to Invite them to our Special Memorial Event on September 23rd.
We have not received acknowledgment of message receipt from the following families if anyone can please put them in touch with us or have them check their spam messages: Zane, CJ, Jade, Traelan, & Lorenzo. 💛
🌟🎗️ Brazos Valley Child and AYA Cancer Roll of Honor, A Historical Preservation Project 🎗️🌟
Introducing the Brazos Valley Childhood & Young Adult Cancer Roll of Honor. This project exists to remember every child and young adult under 21 whose life was lost due to cancer, its treatment complications, or late effects and whose life is strongly connected to the Brazos Valley.
Our goal is to ensure that no child is forgotten and that every family knows their loved one’s legacy endures. According to our research, a conservative estimate for this time period should include at least 55 individuals. That’s tragically 55 too many!! Please share so that we may locate every child lost to cancer 🌟🎗️🕊️
Please see the updated list of names we have gathered so far through public searches of obituaries, news articles, and nominations. We know there are so many more children that have slipped through the cracks of time.

Our primary focus is on children who’ve passed since January 1, 2000 because there is more readily accessible public data for verification purposes but we welcome any qualifying child is part of the project regardless of time period. Please submit any information you have that may help us locate every Brazos Valley child and AYA lost to cancer.
