With advice from his father, first-generation student Jim Gold ’70 realized that if he wanted to get ahead, he needed a college education.

His journey wasn’t easy, but he knew Texas A&M was where he needed to be. A change in major led him to construction science and eventually to building a company that helped transform the industry.

Now, he and his wife, Betty, are giving back with an endowed scholarship supporting first-generation Aggies from rural communities, along with a future gift to expand opportunities in construction science for years to come.
