Hello, My name is Audrey, and I am in a first grade at Anneliese School, Laguna beach, California. When I heard some animals on earth are in pain and endangered, I was very sad and wrote a letter to President Obama to prevent this from happening and protect the animals. President Obama sent me a personalized letter back along with photos. Now I want to do something for these animals. I visited Pacific Marine Mammal Center near my school. I really want to help them out. These seals and sea lion pups are so small, weak and sick. They need to get better so they can go back to their moms soon. As a youth ambassador of PMMC, I want to give something back to show my love for this planet. Please help them! From PMMC Video:

There is a crisis along the California coastline. Seal and Sea Lion pups are washing ashore in record numbers. Starving, Sick, Near Death. The Pacific Marine Mammal Center is the only organization in orange county licensed to Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release these animals. Back to the ocean where they belong. Along 52 mils of coastline, we are the difference between life and death

Each year they rescue an average of 188 animals But in 2015 they rescued 535 animals.... in the first 7 months alone. There have been so many strandings. We are now in a state of emergency. This isnt just affecting animals Seals and Sea lions are like canaries in the coal mines for human health. We share the same beaches. We swim in the same water. We eat the same fish. If marine mammals are in trouble, humans could be next. They rescue to sit back and watch that happen. As a marine mammal hospital, they committed to giving these animals a Second chance at life. As a scientific research facility, we are committed to finding out what's causing these strandings. And communicating these findings so they can all help stop it in its tracks. As an education hub, they are dedicated to sharing this information, so they can help put an end to the crisis before it affects all of us. They need our Help! This is what they do. What can we do?

🌟NATIONAL HISTORY DAY WINNER🌟

This year was NHD’s 50th anniversary and I had the amazing opportunity to represent California in the category of Junior Individual Performance. Out of more than 2600 students in the National competition I won second place!! This was such an honor and a wonderful end to my three year journey to participate in NHD CA. I have so many people I would like to thank.

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to my teachers and my family who have all helped me to be where I am today. Thank you for everything!!

HUGE SHOUTOUT TO: !!! I could not have done this without your help. Your kind words of motivation always kept me going and I am extremely sad that I will not be able to represent California for the future NHD competitions. However, I will always remember the effect that you have had on me, and I hope to see you next year at the National Competition. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to go to Maryland and to compete in this wonderful competition. I am so thankful for all the unforgettable memories.

As the school year comes to a close, there was an awards night to celebrate all the 8th graders at our wonderful school of Sierra Vista. Thank you everyone for these unforgettable memories and let’s keep in touch! For me, I won the President’s Award for Educational Excellence (for maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout middle school), Certificate of Achievement from my History teacher, and the Charger Award which only 5 in the graduating 8th grade class receive. Let’s all keep in touch! And once again huge thank you to for this opportunity!!
