I shared these remarks last night with our community https://marylandhillel.org/10-7-vigil/ and it was an honor and a blessing to witness the magical moment last night when our resilient student leaders Terps for Israel, IAC Mishelanu UMD and Maryland JSU stood tall, proud, and with each other during a very trying and hard day on campus. Hostage Square was so powerful! The victim name reading during the day at Hillel was intense. The Vigil with over 1,100 strong was inspiring, emotionally draining and uplifting at the same time. Suzy Israel and I couldn't be happier to share that our daughter Tamar just got engaged to Benny Margulies who lives four doors away from us. They met at Berman Hebrew Academy high school couple (where he proposed to her this morning at sunrise).

Maryland Hillel,is grateful for and proud of the scores of pro Israel Jewish students who spoke up against to help defeat the SGA divestment bill. Our amazing student leadership who worked tirelessly to support Israel and defend against antisemitism.

UMD administration just came out with very strong, unequivocal statement against disrupters; including them facing student conduct and even potential criminal charges. I have a meeting with President Pines in a few hours and will thank him personally, and at the same time, raise the ongoing issues our community is sadly facing
