Supported by National Council of Mental Wellbeing and MHFA, Dr. Cixin Wang and her team at the University of Maryland, College Park are offering FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) trainings for parents of youth between the ages of 9-20!
They still have openings for trainings in June, August, and October.
The training will allow parents to: (1) gain the expertise needed to support youth mental well-being, (2) acquire skills to help you recognize and address common signs of mental health issues in young people, (3) enhance your understanding of mental health challenges prevalent among diverse youth in your community, and (4) effectively interact with adolescents in crisis and connect them with appropriate resources.
The FREE 5-hour virtual training will be held as part of a research study on one Saturday or Sunday between June and November from 10am to 4pm EST. You and your child will also earn up to $80 for completing surveys as part of the research study! This study has been approved by IRB at UMD.
