Beloved Sheikh Muhammad Alshareef, teacher to millions, but always ready to put on a white belt and become a student. Here is a sweet spin kick from him during a Tang Soo Do sparring session in the early days of Aqabah Karate. Circa 2000
May Allah grant you eternal peace in Jannatul Firdaus in the company of Rasul (saw). Ameen 🤲❤️

A Huge Loss: Passing of Muhammad Alshareef - Inna lilahi wa inna ilaihi Rajioon
Assalamu'alykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh Dear Community,
We are deeply saddened and shocked to inform you of the passing of longtime, dear community member, servant of Allah, activist and an inspiration for millions, Sheikh Muhammad Alshareef.
During a hajj in the late 1990s, one of our community members met the then recent Madinah University graduate and they spoke about Al-Huda School and the Dar-us-Salaam community. Soon, Muhammad applied to teach in Al-Huda School, and he remained a beloved, outstanding teacher for about three years.
We still pass by his office and remember the amazing posters he would put in the window to the brothers hallway. The school continues to use his "40 Hadith Blackbelt" book he developed for our Islamic Studies curriculum. It's a knowledge legacy, a sadaqah jaariyah, which was only the beginning.
After three years teaching in Al-Huda School, Muhammad realized his strength was in connecting with older students -- college age and adults. He discussed his thoughts with Br Safi, and Al-Maghrib Institute was born. The project took hold in Maryland, and quickly raised the bar for Islamic courses throughout the region, across the nation, and throughout the world.
Muhammad and his family stayed with us for over five years, only leaving because of visa issues. Deep friendships remain till this day with many at Dar-us-Salaam. He last addressed our community by video from Dubai about three years ago, advising our hifz graduates to live by the Qur'an they memorized.
We ask Allah to accept Muhammad's entire life as a life lived for His sake. We ask Allah to grant Muhammad the ajr of every good deed from every life he inspired. The spaces and hallways of Dar-us-Salaam will bear witness on his behalf, and so will all of us, in shaa Allah.
Please remember Muhammad and his beloved family and children who are left behind in your duaa. May Allah grant them all a beautiful patience as they deal with this loss.
Please join us for janaza in absentia this coming Monday, July 25, 2022, after salatul thuhr at 1:25pm at Dar-us-Salaam, 5301 Edgewood Road

We have another blue belt Alhamdulillah. Congratulations Ayman!
Congratulations to our newest Blue Belt - . Ayman has been training jiu-jitsu for several years and with me consistently since early 2021. He is a great example of the 3Ts - Technique, Time on the Mat, and Toughness - I look for in our students. He shows up and trains a minimum of 4x per week, he has developed significantly as a jiu-jitsu practitioner taking Gold in the recent Open this past weekend, and is a great ambassador of Rollstar and the art. It's time to level up and take his game to the next phase, insha Allah Congratulations, again, brother. I am very proud and happy for you, masha Allah.
