The Keystone Program oversees the Clark School's 1st & 2nd year ENES courses. See more at www.keystone.umd.edu

Keystone brings beginning engineers an enhanced educational experience, reinforces and recognizes outstanding teaching, and serves a national model for increasing engineering student retention and graduation rates. The Keystone Program encourages the school's best faculty members to teach our most fundamental courses. Faculty members are selected from throughout the school, given renewable three-year appointments with a base salary increase and discretionary funds to support their activities, and are assisted by additional support personnel. Courses are closely reviewed to achieve academic excellence and high student interest. Funding has been contributed to launch the program; substantial new resources are needed to expand it to all freshman and sophomore courses.

The QUEST application (apply.questumd.com) closes soon! The Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Honors Program is a challenging, hands-on program for University of Maryland undergraduates studying business, engineering, and science. Students complete five courses over three years and work on team-based, experiential learning projects in each course.

Our application is due on Monday, January 31st at 11:59 PM. All freshmen enrolled in a major in Smith, Clark and/or CMNS with above a 3.0 GPA and one semester of college completed are eligible to apply. To find out more, visit go.umd.edu/QUEST.

Due to a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases on campus and the potential further spread of the virus, we are taking the following actions, effective immediately: go.umd.edu/qU8

With a heavy heart, we are canceling all winter commencement activities, including the main ceremony scheduled for Dec. 20 and all college, school and department ceremonies scheduled for Dec. 21 and 22. All winter graduates will be invited to the spring ceremony in May.

All indoor social gatherings where mask-wearing cannot be strictly enforced should be canceled through Dec. 22. On-campus services including dining and RecWell will modify operations. Students who live in residence halls must depart campus 24 hours after their final on-campus exam.

Final examinations will continue as scheduled, but all students and faculty must wear KN95 masks for all in-person finals. Anyone who is experiencing symptoms should not attend any in-person examinations and should work with their instructor to make alternative arrangements.
