oin Us to Honor Two Giants of Fluid Dynamics!!

We invite colleagues across the fluid dynamics community to a special one-day "Andreas Acrivos Memorial Symposium" and "Bud Homsy Memorial Symposium", celebrating the extraordinary legacies of two pioneers who shaped our field. This special tribute will take place on November 22 as part of the 78th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Fluid Dynamics (DFD) at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX—a fitting setting for a gathering of our community.

Andreas Acrivos was a visionary whose foundational contributions—from non-Newtonian flows to transport phenomena—set the stage for decades of innovation. His rigorous, elegant approach to fluid mechanics continues to influence research worldwide.

George M. "Bud" Homsy was a leader whose work in interfacial flows, computational fluid dynamics, and multiphase systems defined entire research directions. His creativity, curiosity, and mentorship live on through generations of scholars.

The program will feature inspiring talks from their students, collaborators, and extended academic families, highlighting the lasting impact of their work and how it continues to drive today’s advances.

Come visit the APS in Action Advocacy Booth! Grab literature on how scientists can engage with policymakers, and use a laptop linked to the APS in Action portal to write messages to congressional representatives on issues affecting research.
