Feldwood Flames, as most of not all know of the ordeal that our dear friend Tonya Richardson went through. We all know that as long as you have breath in your body, bill collectors want their money regardless of what the circumstances are. And then comes the medical bills. She was in Grady for 17 days fighting for her life. She is still very emotional about the whole ordeal but thanks God daily that she's still here even though she has much work to do. Please consider being of service and helping our fellow classmate out in her time of need...

Dear Banneker alumni and friends,

As you may know, Homecoming 2017 is scheduled for next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. We will be taking on Decatur High School and the football team will be looking to improve their 5-1 record. A victory will position them for a playoff birth for the first time in several years.

Although Homecoming week involves many fun activities for our students, it is also a time for members of the Banneker, MD Collins, and Feldwood communities to come together as well.

Honoring Our Own:
In recent years, I will admit that we have not done a good job of honoring many of our standout alums, but the first step in doing is so involves an outstanding alumni page on our website, while also drafting communication to be posted on my school-based blogsite. Of course, Banneker High School is the product of the merger of two historic high schools - each with rich legacies, so I would like to make certain that alums from all schools are represented in this project. However, I need your assistance.

I want to recognize alums who have had personal or professional success during their time at or beyond their high school days. Here is what I need from you:

Joe Smith is an Attorney and Senior Partner at the law firm of Dewey, White, and Harris. Smith graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in political science in 1992 and later completed his legal education at Georgia State University in 1995. While at Banneker, Josh competed in track - and was a 1983 state qualifier in the 400M. He also served as Senior Class President and was voted Most Likely to Succeed by his classmates. Joe currently lives in Chicago, Illinois with his wife and two children. Most recently, Smith announced his bid for a state Senate run.

The goal for dues: have additional free functions, feed individuals that pays their dues, send flowers/card to our Fallen Flames family, and etc.



If you aren’t aware, we have a PAYPAL ACCOUNT and you can pay your dues to EMAIL – “[email protected]” that allows us to track and have a paper trail.

Feldwood High School was a public high school in unincorporated Fulton County, Georgia, United States. It was a part of Fulton County School System. The school opened in the fall of 1976 as a result of growth and split class sessions at M.D. Collins High School. In recognition of the Bicentennial year, the colors selected for the school were red, white, and blue. In 1988 the school closed and combined again with M.D. Collins High School to form Banneker High School on the Feldwood campus. The merger happened as a result of a consolidation plan to reduce the costs of the school system, comply with new state laws mandating minimum attendance numbers for government funded schools and to upgrade course offerings within all schools in the county.

In addition to serving some unincorporated areas, it also served sections of the city of College Park.
