Snowed in and wishing you had an instrument to practice? Enroll in the Instrumental Music Lesson Program (IMLP) at The Clarice!
Designed for homeschooled students ages 9–12, this beginner-level program introduces children to select band and orchestra instruments in a fun and supportive environment. A perfect mid-day enrichment opportunity for homeschool schedules.
A number of wind instrument spots are still available! If your student is interested in learning to play the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, or trombone, we hope you’ll join us. Students interested in learning the violin or cello can be added to the waitlist.
When: Thursdays, 11:10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
Dates: February 12 – May 7, 2026

Registration for Fall 2023 classes is OPEN! We had a great spring semester so Hatchling is expanding! We will have our Music Play classes for 0-5 year olds and a new class, Music Explorers for 5-7 year olds! Register today!
Registration for the 2023 fall semester of Hatchling Community Music Program (HCMP) is now open! Hatchling provides a space for parents and caregivers to musically engage with their children (ages birth-seven) at the School of Music at the University of Maryland. Hatchling consists of weekly caregiver and child music classes that expose parents to developmentally appropriate musical practices to use with their children both in class and at home. If you have a child or know a child age 0-7 who might be interested in music class, please consider enrolling in this very special program. Several sections are available on Saturdays and Sundays with two different kinds of classes, Music Play and Music Explorers.
