I can help you better understand how to solve physics and math problems and understand why it works. My end goal is to develop your physics and math intuition to a level where it just makes sense. I tutor students who are interested in developing there understanding of high school or undergraduate level physics and mathematics. I like to take an example-based approa
ch where we work through problems together. The goal is to highlight the students misconceptions and gaps in knowledge. Once we identify the problem, I will go back to the basics to build up the student's understanding. I like focus on building the their intuition for the subject so that they understand why and how to solve problem. Whenever possible I try to leverage the student's daily experiences to develop this intuition. ABOUT LUKE
I received my BS in physics and mathematics from University of Maryland in 2009. I am currently working on my PhD in theoretical physics with a focus in laser-matter interactions. During my time at Maryland I have taken and done well in nearly every class in applied mathematics (those most useful to scientist and engineers) and most of the physics courses. I began regularly tutoring in math and physics in 2009. Last year I accumulated over 200 hours with students. I can tutor in:
Physics
High School level and AP Physics
Physics of Light and Sound
General or Introductory Physics 1, 2, 3 (Mechanics, E&M, ect)
Classical Mechanics
Electricity and Magnetism
Quantum Mechanics
Statistical Mechanics
Scientific Computing and Programing
Math
Algebra
Geometry
Precalculus
Calculus 1, 2, 3
Differential Equations
Linear Algebra
Complex Numbers
Mathematical Method for Physics
Contour Integration, Asymptotic Methods, Multiple Time Scales, ect. I could even help in some topics at a graduate level such as plasma physics, nonlinear optics, atomic and optical physics, and related subjects.
