College Park Scholars

🎉Congratulations to College Park Scholars alum Felix Gomez, who recently received a 2026 Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship from (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), one of the premier honors for undergraduates in the field. 

Felix, a rising junior .artsscholars alum, is one of eight University of Maryland students to have received this year's Hollings Scholarship. The award is NOAA's flagship undergraduate program and provides recipients with scholarships worth $19,000 and an internship at NOAA next summer.

First Summer Orientation ☀️🐢 in the books!

What a day! We welcomed a couple hundred incoming Scholars and their families on an absolutely beautiful weather day in College Park.

What advice do you have for our first-year students?

It's only been a week since the commencements and we are still over the moon (get it? UMD had a whole astronaut give the remarks at the main ceremony!), thanks to all of the College Park Scholars medallions we saw!

🎉 Congratulations to alum Eileen Chen, who was the student speaker for the Robert H. Smith School of Business undergraduate commencement ceremony this week.

Eileen, who earned dual degrees in information systems and finance, shared about finding her purpose. She received the prestigious Meghan Price Scholarship for Leadership and Public Service from College Park Scholars last fall.

The College Park Scholars office will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

🎉Congratulations to graduate assistant Victoria Worley who recently received the Office of Undergraduate Studies Graduate Student Award!

Victoria, nominated by JLT's associate director, Dr. Justine DeCamillis, has been a graduate assistant in JLT for the past four years, and in that time, she has been an exceptional educator, leader, and team member.

In her nomination letter, Dr. DeCamillis shared how Victoria was essential in developing program curricula, served as co-instructor for a challenging research course, and designed impactful units within other courses.

Outside the classroom, Victoria has been a leader for service activities and experiential learning opportunities, helping students grow professionally, personally, and academically.
