Alumnus Chance Glenn to Receive the EarthLight Foundation and New Worlds Institute’s “Permission to Dream Award.” Award ⁠

According to the press announcement, Glenn is being recognized for his “long and important work supporting STEM education and workforce development, as well as for inspiring and enabling new generations to reach for the stars.” ⁠

The award is being given for both his personal example, his work in university systems and his creation of the MorningBird Foundation which is ‘focused on promoting science, technology, engineering, math, (STEM) to underserved and underrepresented populations.’⁠

Computer engineering students Mia NdousseFetter and Mary Redpath were selected among 200 applicants to participate in Break Through Tech DC at UMD's 2022 Sprinternship™ program. Mia has been placed with University of Maryland Dining, and Mary is with Goodshuffle.

Next Tuesday, Michael Kaczmarek, Vice President of Product Management at Neustar, will discuss the Domain Name System (DNS), the value of this data, and the considerations that have come into play when leveraging it to develop new products and services. Tomorrow (Nov. 5) University of Maryland Prof. William Regli will discuss the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence & Security (ARLIS): the University of Maryland's center for interdisciplinary and applied research across social science and in service to the
U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The event will be held in room 1110 of the Kim Engineering Building.
