On March 4th, AGNR IPAN was delighted to host the Global Community of Practice event, bringing together faculty, staff, students, and partners committed to strengthening global engagement in agriculture and natural resources.

We were honored to hear from an inspiring Terp Rob Bertram, who served as our keynote speaker, Dean Powers and Dr. Jimmy Smith, whose remarks highlighted IPAN's various international engagement, the importance of collaboration, and shared learning in addressing global challenges across food systems, agriculture, and natural resources.

The event provided a valuable space for connection, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas among individuals passionate about international agricultural development. It also marked an exciting step forward in building a stronger community around global agricultural and natural resource issues at UMD and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to the success of this event. We look forward to continuing these important conversations through the Global Community of Practice.

The Grand Challenges initiative, “Accelerating Development of Innovative, Exceptionally Low-Cost Maternal and Child Nutrient Ingredients & Products,” is accepting applications for breakthrough solutions to reduce the cost of key maternal and child nutrients by at least 50%. It aims to make proven nutrition interventions affordable and accessible in low- and middle-income countries, offering up to $500,000 in funding for scalable innovations. The application deadline is December 16, 2025.
