Nobanno: Bangladeshi Graduate Students Association at UMD hosted the annual Fall Picnic and welcomed our newest cohort of students to the Nobanno family! Despite the gentle drizzle, the afternoon was filled with lively conversations, delicious food, shared laughter, and incredible energy.

Nobanno extends thanks to the faculty advisor, dedicated members, new students, and friends who joined and made the event so special. You proved that a little rain only adds to the charm of gathering together as a community far from home.

Important update for students in the U.S.:

DHS has issued a final rule ending “Duration of Status” (D/S) for F-1 students and replacing it with fixed admission periods, generally capped at four years. The rule is scheduled to take effect on September 15, 2026. Students needing additional time for their degree, OPT/STEM OPT, or another program may be required to apply for an extension of stay through USCIS.

It’s time to appreciate everyone who made the International Mother Language 2025 Event such a success! I’m incredibly grateful to all who dedicated their time and effort to bring it to life. Thank you for your hard work and contribution!

A huge thank you to Sadib Fardin, Tashfiqul Islam Nabil, Mehrab Hossen Siam and MD Asif Faisal Beg for setting up the stage—you did an incredible job! Every time we needed help, you quickly jumped into action, listened attentively, and set everything up perfectly. Plus, you took on the tough task of transporting everything from home to the venue on time. Truly appreciate your hard work!
