🚌 The new school year is just around the corner, and Stuff the Bus backpack registration is now open! 

Through Stuff the Bus, parents, guardians, teachers, and youth support staff can register eligible K–12 students attending Deer River Public Schools ISD #317, Grand Rapids Area Schools, Greenway High School, Vandyke Elementary School, Northern Lights Community School and Hill City School ISD #2 MN. Registered students will receive a backpack filled with the grade- and school-specific supplies they need to start the school year ready to learn.

With a new school year not far away, schools are welcoming some new teachers, including Greenway High School welcoming Greenway graduate Michael Butterfield as a special education teacher.

Rapids Radio talked with Michael about what got him interested in teaching, why he chose to teach at Greenway, what the community means to him and how teaching runs in the family.

Our teachers have been making the most of summer!

Ms. Vekich, Ms. Arford, Ms. Mell, and Ms. Fillman have been out on the trails, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying some summer adventures. 🚲 🌲☀️

And Ms. Haynes took her summer adventure a little farther… all the way to Switzerland! 🇨🇭✈️🏔️

We’re soaking up these last few weeks of summer, but we’re also starting to get pretty excited to see everyone again! September will be here before we know it! 💚🖤
