’Twas the eve of the first Friday Night lights, when all through the town, Not a soul was asleep—not even a gown. The Bluecats lay dreaming of touchdowns and cheers, While the cheerleaders rehearsed moves to silence their fears.
The jerseys were hung by the lockers with care,
In hopes that Friday night soon would be there.
The players were nestled all snug in their beds,
Their helmets beside them, dreams spinning in their heads.
Away to the bleachers, the families did race,
Their faces all glowing with small-town pride’s grace.
The Bluecats came on, their spirits alive,
Prepared to make Coleman County’s lore come alive.
Friday night lights lit up Coleman so bright, A beacon of pride, of triumph, of might. The small town was humming, hearts full of delight, Coleman, Texas—first Friday night lights.
So here’s to the Bluecats, the cheer squad, the team, To the dream that’s ignited by Friday night’s gleam. May the cheers never settle, the pride never rest, And the spirit of Coleman shine ever its best.
