Wrapping up the end of the year, our business students tested for certifications in different areas of business. Congratulations on passing them and getting certified, BMMT!

Certifications that students tested for and passed were:
-Professional Communication
-Generative AI Foundations
-Marketing Fundamentals
-Entrepreneurship and Small Business

These certifications not only taught students the skills that they need to keep up with the ever-growing and changing business field, but also provided them with proof of the hard work and skills they learned in BMMT this year. Great job!!

Thank you, Longstreet Living, for letting our Business students visit your store!

Our business students got a special tour of the Longstreet Living building and warehouse last week. During the tour, Cindy Longstreet and her family told us about how they started their business, how they scaled it up, the services that they offer, and how they currently get their stock. It was very interesting to learn how a furniture and home renovation business operates!

They also advised our students that college is not the only way to be successful in life, but success and personal growth take hard work and good communication skills. It was very valuable advice that our students can keep in mind as they grow as business professionals.

Thank you again, Longstreet Living, for all that you’ve done for our business class!! From letting our students sell their products during your Sip-and-Shop event to being a sponsor for our Mogul Palooza event, you’ve helped and impacted not only our students but also our community as a whole. For that, we are eternally grateful. Thank you!

Thinking about the future, especially in a financial way, can be difficult and overwhelming at times. Most of us dismiss it until we feel we are ready, but most of the time, that ends up being too late to make a considerable difference.

Cole Targgart, a Financial Advisor at Edward Jones, came in today to talk to our Business and CNT students about investing and where to begin so that they can avoid mistakes most people make. He explained the importance of following the 7 baby steps of investing and investing early. He then gave examples of how truly useful time is for growing the money you invested, and answered common questions about what the best investing practices are.

Cole also went into detail on what the difference between an IRA and a Roth IRA is, as well as what the difference between an index fund and a mutual fund is. His diagrams helped the students understand the differences, and his investing advice helped them get a basic understanding of investing that they can apply to their future.

Thank you very much, Cole Targgart-Edward Jones, for taking the time to teach our students about investing and helping them create a stable financial future for themselves!

People often change their path when discovering what they want to pursue as a career.

Trienne Topp, co-owner of the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Coldwater, came to our class to speak to our Business and Culinary students about not only how to run a successful restaurant, but also about not giving up when unsure about what they want to do in life.

Trienne shared stories about her youth and how she changed career paths multiple times before finding her passion. She explained that the connections she made along the way were what ultimately helped guide her toward success. When she faced setbacks or roadblocks, she did not become discouraged, but instead regrouped and found a new way to tackle the obstacle. She emphasized to students that failure is a part of life, but it is important to keep moving forward and continue learning from those experiences.

Trienne also spoke about the importance of teamwork and communication when managing a successful business. She encouraged students to trust their team, train people well, and understand that everyone plays an important role.

Thank you again, Trienne Topp , for taking the time to speak with our students! They learned so much from your experiences and truly loved your presentation.
