Nearly 78% of eighth graders enrolled in construction last spring met or exceeded their anticipated growth on state testing. That’s something worth celebrating and sharing. Cold Spring-based nonprofit TradesNKY's middle school construction curriculum is rolling out in more Northern Kentucky districts this year.

Through TradesNKY’s MAKE initiative, middle school students will gain hands-on exposure to manufacturing, machining, robotics and welding while discovering the wide range of career pathways available in these growing industries.

By introducing these opportunities early, we’re helping students connect what they learn in the classroom to the possibilities waiting for them in Northern Kentucky’s workforce.

Today, we celebrate Manufacturing Day to kick off Manufacturing Month!

Manufacturing is powered by skilled people, innovative thinking and hands on problem solving, all of which play a vital role in keeping our communities moving forward.

At TradesNKY, we’re helping the next generation see themselves in that future through hands on trades education and early exposure to manufacturing careers. This month, we’re celebrating the people who make it happen today and the students who will help shape what comes next.

TradesNKY is helping students discover what’s possible through hands-on career exploration. Through our curriculum, students gain practical experience with industry-standard tools and equipment while learning about the skilled trades and the career pathways available right here in our region.

With a curriculum developed by educators and industry partners, TradesNKY is creating opportunities for students to learn by doing, and building a stronger workforce pipeline for Northern Kentucky along the way.

The Campbell County Area Technology Center gives students the opportunity to turn career interests into real, hands-on experience. Principal Carolyn Stewart explains how important the ATC is in connecting students with the experiences that shape their futures, whatever their paths look like.

Through career and technical education in eight different pathways, students at the ATC build practical skills, explore in-demand fields and gain a clearer path toward continued education or the workforce. For TradesNKY, the ATC is an important partner in creating stronger pathways from the classroom to meaningful careers across our region.

Recently, TradesNKY board members toured the Campbell County Area Technology Center (ATC), a career and technical education center that partners with TradesNKY to expand hands-on learning pathways for regional students.

The ATC helps students build practical skills and take their career interests beyond initial exploration and into focused technical training. The tour gave our board a closer look at these opportunities and how we can connect students with continued learning.

Thank you to the ATC team for welcoming us and supporting the next generation of skilled professionals!

Camco Chemical is investing in the future of NKY's manufacturing workforce. We’re grateful for a $15,000 grant from the Rolfes Family Fund at Horizon Community Foundation of Northern KentuckyHorizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky, made in connection with Camco Chemical, to support the development of TradesNKY’s new MAKE (Manufacturing) curriculum.

This investment will help us introduce middle school students to manufacturing through hands-on learning and give them a look at the career opportunities available right here in our region. Thank you to Camco Chemical and the Rolfes Family Fund for investing in our students and the future of Northern Kentucky’s workforce.
