🏈 Congratulations, Vinny Arrigoni! 🏈

Bacon Academy is proud to congratulate Vinny Arrigoni on being named an ECC Football Player of the Week for Week 4!

Vinny had an outstanding performance on defense, recording 7 tackles, 1 interception, and a fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown! He also found the end zone twice on offense, adding a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

Vinny was also awarded an Alliance Game Ball for his performance this past week.

As the ECC Football Player of the Week, Vinny will now enter the statewide Player of the Week poll run by NFP Sports.

Congratulations, Vinny, on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud of you!

The Day's high school Players of the Week are honored for the week of Sept. 20-27.

Bacon Academy started the season with six straight road games prior to its upcoming home opener Wednesday against Windham on the Bobcats' new turf field. Bacon (4-1-1 overall, 2-1 Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II) finished that stretch by going 3-0 last week with wins over division rival Stonington (4-0), Killingly (8-0) and East Hartford (1-0).

Senior forward Zach Chiarella provided a great deal of the offense for the Bobcats, collecting five goals and three assists in the three games, including scoring the only goal in Sunday's win over previously unbeaten East Hartford in the Connecticut High School Challenge in Middletown.

“Zach is clearly a gifted player,” Bacon coach Skip Starks said, “but an even better leader and teammate. He earns and deserves all the accolades headed his way, but that's not what drives him. His selfless approach epitomizes ‘It's amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.’”

Chiarella had two goals and an assist against Stonington and two goals and two assists vs. Killingly before his game-winning goal against East Hartford.

We are excited to share that Zyyear Farrell has been selected as a Week 2 nominee for USA Football’s 2026 Heart of a Giant Award, presented by the New York Giants and Hospital for Special Surgery.

As a Week 2 nominee, Zyyear will have the opportunity to share their story and compete for the chance to advance as one of the program’s finalists. Six weekly winners will advance as finalists and receive a $1,000 equipment grant for their high school football program. Additional finalists will also be selected through the program’s honorable-mention process.

What a day for Bacon Academy Cross Country! The Bobcats had an outstanding showing at the 38th Annual Coginchaug Invitational on Thursday, with both teams turning in impressive performances.

💙 Girls Cross Country — CHAMPIONS! 💙
The Bacon Academy Girls Cross Country Team won the invitational, led by:

💪 Boys Cross Country — 3rd Place!
The boys were led by an incredible overall race victory from Boden Paul, who blazed to the finish in 16:36!
