Sixth grade enjoyed a gorgeous day of learning outside last week on a field trip! Their study of latitude and longitude took them to the nearby 45 ° N, 90 ° W geographical marker–the exact center of the Northwest Hemisphere. They then took their tree identification skills learned in science on hikes at Dells of the Eau Claire. These experiences brought our learning to life!

🥞Great morning for breakfast in seventh grade!🥓
There was full house this morning, as we hosted families for a pancake breakfast. Nothing better than pancakes, orange juice, and conversation with the family, to get your Tuesday started. Thanks, to all who attended, donated, prepared, and served breakfast. Seventh grade rocks!

Physical education, while daunting to some, has been a blast in Parnewicz’s 6th-hour class! As of Friday, they are working through their 2-3 week-long World Cup unit! The students have been put into teams of four, chosen team names as a group, and made posters. This unit is pushing them to do their absolute best in order to be the victorious group winning a Gatorade of their choice! The best thing about this unit is what it is doing for the students: it is encouraging them to work together and communicate with each other to succeed. All the students are excited to get into the soccer matches against each other!

Wednesday, October 7th is this year's National Walk to School Day, and we are hoping to have many Colby students once again take part in a supervised walk from the Colby Fire Station to our school buildings.

We are offering three ways for students to participate:

1) Parents who normally drop off students at school could drop their child off at the Colby Fire Station on Wednesday, October 7th between 7:40 am and 8:00 am. We plan to walk to school starting around 8:10 am, and we estimate arriving at school by 8:45 am. No one participating in the walk will be marked tardy or absent because of their participation in this event.

2) All students riding on district buses will be allowed to get off the bus at the Colby Fire Station and join in with the group of students leaving from that location to walk to school. Buses on that morning will make a loop past the fire station, and students will have the option to ride to school after it stops at the Colby Fire Station if they choose, or join the group walking.

3) Students who drive/ride to school or ride with siblings to school can take a bus from the back of the HS to the Colby Fire Station - Mr. Wozniak will help organize/supervise these students.

We would love to have a great number of students participate in this event, but in the end, it is an optional activity.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Superintendent Patrick Galligan at 715-223-2301 (ext. 1) or at [email protected].
