Fun little inside-edge warm-up this morning, paired with some crossover work.

We lost a few edges along the way, battled through it, and kept working. That’s the point of these drills, challenge balance, edge control and body position while learning to stay composed when things get difficult.

The kids did a great job this morning. Challenge the skating, build the control, and keep progressing.

Ohhh the edges! 🔥

Balance, edge control and puck control all working together. This is the kind of skating we obsess over at Perfect Skating, the details that separate good skaters from great ones.

And when you can do it with the puck on your stick? Even better.

🍂 Fall Registration is OPEN

If your player wants to become a better skater, this is where we start.

We had an awesome summer of skating building stronger ashes, better balance and more control so players can move faster and more efficiently on the ice!

Fall programs are on sale now - check out our limited schedule at boston.perfect.ca.

Getting through the neutral zone isn’t just about speed, it’s about edges, transitions, and attacking space.

This progression starts with the foundation: players working on their edges and transitions.

Then we take it into the zone entry: get to the middle of the ice, force the defender to react, and attack with speed.

The middle of the ice creates options.
Options create time.
Time creates offense.

Build the skating first. Then teach players how to use it. 🔥

Great to be back on the ice after a little break between our spring and summer programs. It’s always exciting to get back to doing what we love. 👊

This video shows the same figure-8 skating pattern performed two different ways.

The first is around the pucks, a great way to develop edge control, body position, and skating mechanics.

The second adds a foam pad. It’s not there to make the drill look harder or more creative. The purpose is to challenge the athlete’s proprioception, their awareness of where their body is in space. By having to step, jump, and immediately regain control while maintaining the same skating pattern, players are forced to improve balance, coordination, timing, and body control.

The best skaters don’t just move fast. They can control their bodies in any situation and quickly get back into strong skating positions after disruption.

Every drill should have a purpose. This one isn’t about the obstacle, it’s about building better athletes and better skaters.

Looking forward to a great summer with all of our players! 💪🏒

That’s a wrap on our Spring Programs. 👏

Over the past few months, we had the privilege of working with athletes across four different groups: two Perfect Skating programs and two Small Area Movement (SAM) programs and it was incredible to watch their development unfold.

What stood out most was their commitment to the process. They listened to feedback, picked up on coaching cues, applied corrections, and learned to recognize when something didn’t feel right. Over time, many began making adjustments on their own self-correcting, refining their movements, and developing a greater awareness of what efficient skating should feel like.

They made mistakes, learned from them, and kept working. That’s where real development happens. Progress isn’t always linear, but these athletes embraced the challenge and continued to improve week after week. Progress is built through repetition, effort, and a willingness to learn. We couldn’t be more proud of the work these players put in throughout the spring.

Thank you to all of the athletes and families who trusted us to be a small part of their development journey. We truly appreciate the opportunity and look forward to seeing what these players accomplish next.

Have a great summer and keep chasing progress. 🏒💪

Advanced edge work isn’t about making drills look difficult, it’s about building the movement patterns players rely on when the game gets hard.

Today we challenged the athletes with a series of advanced edge control exercises that demanded balance, precision, and body awareness. Throughout every rep, we provided continuous feedback on posture, weight transfer, blade placement, edge engagement, and overall movement efficiency.

The goal isn’t just to complete the drill. It’s to understand what your body is doing, make adjustments, and develop the ability to self-correct.

The best players aren’t guessing. They’re aware of how they move and constantly refining the details.

Small adjustments. Better mechanics. More efficient skating. We have spots left in our summer programming that kicks off in July.

In this session, we worked on getting to the center of the ice on zone entries, attacking with speed to push the defender back and to the create time and space and get in between the dots. Is this our cleanest video? Nope. But that’s not the point. Skaters got feedback rep after rep, making adjustments, and improving in real time. Progress over perfection. Consistency over flash. That’s what we do at Perfect Skating Boston. We meet you where you are, give you honest feedback, and help you get better every single session. Our summer programs are live - check out our site.

Great work by the kids executing these patterns. After each rep, we check in on how it felt and share feedback on what we’re seeing. That constant loop, feel, adjust, improve is how real progress happens.

Spring Perfect Skating programs are officially underway and it feels great to be back on the ice with the athletes.

Nothing like a few hard net drives from the 6:30am crew to set the tone for the day.

In a recent study, people felt more anxiety with the fear of regret vs the fear of opportunity. We get it. Individual Competitive vs Athlete Competitive.

We get this question a lot about groups on the ice. How can a 10-year-old AA player train with a 12-year-old AAA player and get maximum enhancement? At Perfect Skating, our drills are designed to be individually competitive, not athlete competitive. It’s YOU vs YOU! You vs your movement proficiency and you vs your skill acquisition. And right there beside you is one of our PS-certified coaches to challenge YOU every rep! To learn more click the link in our bio and find the right program near you! .

Perfect Skating vs Small Area Movement Program

What’s the difference between PS and SAM programs? Which one is right for your athlete? If you need foundational skating and on-ice movement correction then the Perfect Skating program will improve your movement proficiency, joint mobility and joint stability. If you need to improve quickness, agility and evasive skating then the SAM program is the one you want. The main difference is that the SAM program is focused on the SPEED OF MOVEMENT, whereas our PS program works on the fundamentals of skating and ensures maximum MOVEMENT EFFICIENCY.
