As a coach, it’s incredibly rewarding to work with athletes who trust the process and lead with humility and grit. Scott and Gina, I’m proud of you both. Thanks for being such a big part of Ignite Multisport from the start and for continuing to set the tone for what it means to show up and get it done.

Big congrats on an awesome weekend. The work continues!

From day one of Ignite Multisport, Scott and Gina Anderson have been all in.

They’ve been with me since the very beginning of my coaching journey, and if there’s one thing that defines them, it’s consistency. They show up. They do the work. They support each other. And when race day comes, they bring their best…every single time.

This past weekend at the Oak Island Full Marathon Ultra Detour was no exception. Scott and Gina both raced tough and smart, earning 1st and 2nd in their respective age groups and finishing near the top overall. That kind of result isn’t luck…it’s the product of steady training, commitment, and years of stacking good days together.

Ironman 70.3 in the Tri-Cities delivered something unique last year and 2025 was no exception! Thank you so much to all the volunteers, and my family and friends that came to cheer all of on! I was dialed in, I lined up ready to execute the same principles I coach—race consistent, race smart, and be ready for whatever the day brings.

The Columbia River obviously gave us a current-assisted swim, which made for fast splits across the board. The challenge was discipline—keeping my strokes long and efficient instead of burning unnecessary matches. I came out of the water exactly where I wanted to be: fresh and set up for the bike.

The bike course threw us a slight curveball this year that extended the ride to about 56.6 miles. I do think the consensus among athletes was that the changes were positive—smoother flow, a great layout, and a touch more rhythm to the effort. I settled into my power numbers, a little lower than anticipated (wind was the biggest culprit). I stayed consistent and patient, knowing that the extra distance meant sticking to my plan mattered even more!

This is where my day came alive. I locked into a strong pace early and carried it through, feeling smooth and in control. My legs responded, my strategy held, and I was able to push when it mattered most. I crossed the line before the big rain moved in—finishing on a high note and with the satisfaction of executing one of my strongest runs this season!

My takeaway…every race is a chance to learn and reinforce what works for YOU! This one was about patience, discipline, consistency, and letting my preparation shine. Nothing flashy—just the fundamentals, done well.

As we shift into the maintenance season, now’s the time to put in the work that sets up big breakthroughs later. If you’re an athlete ready to ignite your training and build toward your own strong finish lines, I’d love to help.

Sometimes the best days are the unplanned ones. 🏁

Fresh off Sandpoint’s Long Bridge Swim 🏊‍♂️, I signed up for a sprint triathlon last minute — no big expectations, just a chance to race, have fun, and see some familiar faces. Ended up catching up with several triathlon friends, including my longtime high school XC coach, Dale Fuller 🏃‍♂️.

The result? 17th overall and 1st in my age group 🥇. Proof that showing up with zero pressure can still lead to some pretty great results.

Massive thanks to my wife, Saprina ❤️ — the ultimate Sherpa, cheerleader, and unwavering supporter. Couldn’t do this without you.

Ironman Calgary 70.3 Race Recap – Coach Jeff’s Perspective

Ironman Calgary 70.3 delivered on the challenge, the grit, and…unfortunately…the weather. As a coach and athlete, I always preach adaptability, and this race was a masterclass in exactly that.

The day started with a very wet 1.2-mile swim. Rain fell steadily as we took on the two-lap course, and I felt strong and focused. There’s something calming about swimming in the rain…it’s like you’re already wet, so what’s a little more? I locked in early, and stayed smooth. Off to a soaked, strong start (smiling on the inside) 😂

Then came the bike. Due to weather-related safety concerns, the bike course was shortened, which honestly turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The skies opened up, dumping rain and even a little hail on us as we rode. The roads were slick, visibility was rough, and staying upright became the top priority. When I racked my bike, I literally poured water out of my cycling cleats…My socks, well, they didn’t make it. No exaggeration…waterlogged from head to toe.

But here’s where it got fun…the run.

I love to run in the rain. With a steady drizzle and cool temps, conditions were surprisingly ideal for a strong 13.1-mile effort. I settled into a legit pace early and tried my best to hold it, feeling steady the whole way. Even though this run course is mostly flat, it’s deceptively difficult with the rollers, so sometimes your pace drifts. After swimming in the rain, and getting pelted with hail on the bike, we all might well grind and slog through the run course, right?!?

All in all, this race was a fantastic experience…challenging, gritty, and full of little moments that reminded me why I love this sport. Sure, I’d trade in the hail and soggy shoes for some sunshine next time, but adversity has a way of sharpening both athletes and coaches. And on this day, Calgary delivered a little of both.
