ATC "Transition Into Employment" Programs it all together in the real world! It takes a Village! The Transition Into Employment (T.I.E.) Our T.I.E. Advisory Committee meets 3 times a year.

ATC’s Transition Into Employment program enables neurodiverse students an opportunity to explore careers, travel on their own and train for industry credentials. The basic life skills young adults need to gain independence:

• Work Skills
• Transportation Skills
• Goal Setting Skills
• Emotion Regulation Skills
• Ability to Deal with Emergencies
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills

Basic Household management
• Financial Skills

Five soft skills that workers/employers say are most important when it comes to getting hired and being successful in the workplace:

• Ability and willingness to learn new skills
• Critical thinking and problem solving
• Collaboration and team work
• Interpersonal communication
• Ability to analyze and synthesize information

Atlantic Technical College’s Transition Into Employment staff helps students T.I.E. ACCESS, Career Placement, and WBLE (Work-Based Learning Experiences) Programs for neurodiverse students with active Individualized Education Plans. We welcome community members and like minded businesses to join us in helping our students build skills to live a self sufficient life. program has an advisory committee made up of local governmental and business representatives. Corporate volunteers are needed for Mock Interviews on and off campus. Business tours and business partnerships for short term internship (unpaid) employment experiences to build skills in the real world.

This year we celebrated 18 Aging Out Students from our program!
We also celebrated our ESE Specialist Aging Out of Broward County Schools!

We are so proud of their many accomplishments in their jobs and careers, furthering their education and personal achievements! We know they will continue to do amazing things and come back to visit us in the future!

Our Autism Acceptance Ambassadors, Julliana Carranza, and her son, Gabriel, accepted a City Commission Proclamation last week declaring April Autism Acceptance Month. The proclamation mentioned our ongoing partnerships with UM-NSU CARD and ATC "Transition Into Employment" Programs, specifically our Friend Responders initiative, which recently won a Florida Police Chiefs Association, (FPCA) award for the most innovative new program in law enforcement.
