Shoutout to Piper High School Band Program for hosting a Concert Music Festival on this evening!

Our two Concert Ensembles performed for some great adjudicated feedback and energetic clinics given by Mr. Zachary Chambers and Dr. Sheldon McLean.

The Concert Winds group from Monarch High debuted their FBA Concert Band Music Performance Assessment program tonight, whereas our Wind Ensemble shared their program to be performed at the Minority Band Directors National Association Concert Band Invitational in Georgia later this spring tonight.

Even late into the midnight hour, Monarch High Bands continue to pursue excellence! Wish us luck at our next Concert Festival performance at Florida Atlantic University on Feb. 21st!

Go Knights!

They were led by conductors Dr. Kevin Sedatole from Michigan State University and Dr. Craig McKenzie from the University of Miami in the Honors and Orange bands respectively. Monarch had representation in the top two groups.

Prepare for a long post!

I’ll keep it short but it deserves to be talked about.

Pictured is 3 seemingly short years ago at Marching MPA 2021. We received an Excellent Rating with 7 Winds, 2 Percussion, 1 Drum Major, and 9 Guard. Immediately post-pandemic and with a complete change in leadership, the band lost many members with motivation was at an all time low. We show this picture so as to not forget where the band started years ago, and to acknowledge the work that those students set forth to lay a foundation for something that they would never reap the benefits of. (Pictured in final slide.)

Years later, the Monarch HS Marching Knights 2024 EARNED a Superior rating in Marching MPA for the first time since 2018. The band has grown to more than THREE times its size, and with voluntary participation this year. Band Staff has grown in numbers. Parent participation has grown in numbers. Indisputably, these kids have worked hard and endured long rehearsals, all in pursuit of a worthwhile endeavor. The payoff does remind us of the power of a good work ethic and dedication to never losing sight of what was always going to be a long term goal: rebuilding a program that the students from all years can truly take pride in.

A heartfelt congratulations to the Monarch High School Marching Knights!
